If you can’t imagine a trip to Rome without getting into the Borghese Gallery, you must be aware that tickets to this famed collection of masterpieces by Bernini, Caravaggio, Raphael Canova and Titian, among many other well-known artists, is not as easy as showing up and waiting in line. Due to its increasing popularity and strict ticketing policy that requires advanced purchase with fixed entry times, many realize only too late that they should have started making their plans sooner.
To meet this demand City Wonders offers a Borghese Gallery tickets only option so that people interested in visiting it on their own without a guide, or just getting in any way that works, have one more card to play before calling it quits. Reserving your tickets in advance, through a tour operator or otherwise, is an absolute necessity, and by purchasing them now through us you will be halfway through the door.
Built from 1613 on by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, the nephew of Pope Paul V, this period Renaissance villa is set in the beautiful Borghese Gardens, once his private park. Scipione was one of the most prolific patrons of the arts of his time, and not only commissioned many of the most famous works by Caravaggio and Bernini, but also amassed a prohibitive collection of sculptures and mosaics from antiquity.
The richly decorated structure and sumptuous interior was designed specifically for exhibiting his collection. Among the sensuous works, you’ll see Bernini’s ‘Apollo and Daphne’, Caravaggio's self-portraits hidden in some of his most representative works, as well as Raphael’s ‘The Deposition’. You’ll even get a look at tributes to the villa’s later owners with the sculpture of Pauline Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister, by Canova, all thanks to your pre-booked tickets.
