Royal Windsor Castle
We start our travels at Gloucester Road Tube Station. After being greeted by your guide and ushered aboard our private coach you’ll leave the city and head for Windsor. Along the way, you’ll be introduced to the royal connections in this proud and charming town waiting outside the capital. On arrival, you can meander through the cobbled lanes and black-and-white Tudor facades of the town with your guide. You’ll discover how it inspired Shakespeare to pen the Merry Wives of Windsor. You will then enter the Queen’s favorite castle and follow the audio guide along palatial corridors into the ornate state apartments decorated with paintings by Rembrandt and Rubens. Depending on the day you visit, you may be able to visit the gothic chapel on the grounds where English kings such as Henry VIII are buried and where Harry and Meghan were wed.
Roman Baths and Romance
No visit to England would be complete without digging into its rich Roman history. The city of Bath which was founded on a thermal spring in 70AD is the perfect place to see where Caesar’s armies set up camp. Your guide will bring you on a walking tour of the town. You can explore the baths which are still in existence or explore the many spots in the town that inspired Jane Austen dream up her novels of romance and intrigue such as Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Whichever you choose to do you’ll have time to lunch in one of the many artisanal cafes in the town before heading off again.
Your journey to Stonehenge will bring you to the England that existed 2000 years before Christ. After exploring the new Stonehenge visitor center you’ll hop on one of their shuttle buses which will carry you the short distance to the stone age circle which was one of the wonders of the ancient world. Our expert guides are passionate about the monoliths and keen to keep up with the latest discoveries in the landscape.
