When in Florence, are we right? Also known as the “cradle of the Renaissance”, Florence has a lot to offer to its large number of annual tourists. It’s home to the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery, as well as Ponte and Palazzo Vecchio. And let’s not forget the famed statues of David and the Slaves by Michelangelo, hidden within the Galleria dell'Accademia. The city also has a wide selection of bars that are well-worth visiting, perfect for polishing off a day of exploring. With that in mind, today we’re chatting about the coolest bars in Florence.

A selection of beers

1. The Lion’s Fountain

One of the oldest Irish pubs in Florence, the Lion’s Fountain is an ideal spot to spend a relaxed evening in the city. Serving a wide menu and showing every sport you could imagine on the TVs throughout, the two go hand-in-hand for a top notch evening out! Be sure to feast on some traditional American favorites (their specialty) as you enjoy a beer or cocktail of your choice. If you’re worried about missing any of the important games, fear not! The Lion’s Fountain have thought of everything, including their own specific schedule of sports on tv on their website. Football, anyone?

2. Harry’s Bar

A more elegant evening option, Harry’s Bar tends to focus on tantalizing the senses. Specifically, taste! Presenting traditional yet sophisticated interiors throughout, Harry’s Bar presents a relaxed environment, with the option of a private room for a more quiet and personal experience. With a range of classic drinks as well as more exciting cocktail concoctions, it’s the food that’s truly worth noting. Working to provide flavors that are traditionally Italian, Harry’s Bar hones in on Florentine and Tuscan seasonalities while making the dishes distinctively their own. Providing a self-proclaimed “gastronomic journey unique charm and atmosphere”, we’re drooling at the mere thought of it.

3. Rasputin

Located 20 minutes from Florence’s famed Duomo, the secret Rasputin is a must-visit, especially for cocktail connoisseurs. Part of the appeal is actually finding this mysterious speakeasy, which is hidden within Florence’s winding streets. Upon entering, you’ll feel almost transported to a vintage-esque, 1920s Chicago. Dimly lit and showcasing rich colors and exposed brick walls, the atmosphere is instantly cosy. With expertly made cocktails true to the Prohibition era, an evening spent in Rasputin is bound to be unforgettable. We would provide the address… But that would take all the fun out of finding it, now wouldn’t it?

4. Florence Unpopular Café

Despite not being your typical cocktail bar, Florence Unpopular Café is not one to be missed. Fresh and modern in terms of interior design and attitude, one of their most popular cocktails is named ‘Zombie’. Need we say more? Not to worry, they also serve old favorites, such as the Old Fashioned and the traditional gin and tonic. With an extensive range of colorful and delectable drinks, pick from a specified menu, or be brave and create your own with the help of the bartender. We get the feeling that they’ll be delicious no matter what!
